Summer's Breeze Sangria

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a light and refreshing cocktail, and barman Jeff Shaffer of The Steinbock Tavern in New Milford makes some of the area’s best. The local vintners at Hopkins Vineyard in New Preston supply the wine that brings these drinks to life.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: 1 Cocktail
  • 1 bottle Hopkins Vineyard "Lady Rose" 2015 Estate Bottled wine (or other dry rose wine)
  • 1 bottle Hopkins Vineyard Silver-Label Sparkling wine (or other sparkling white wine)
  • Orange, lemon, and lime wedges, cut between ½ and ¾ inch pieces

Preparation

Begin by infusing the rosé wine. Pour a 750 ml bottle of rosé wine into a large decanter. Add cut segments of fresh orange, lemon, and lime, giving each a gentle squeeze to help release fruit juices. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Instructions

Pour 2 ounces infused rosé wine and 2 ½ ounces sparkling wine into a red wine glass full of ice. Garnish with cut fruit.
