Mushroom Hunting Workshop
Learn all about the fall season for local wild mushrooms! Ryan Bouchard and Emily Schmidt, co-creators of the Mushroom Hunting Foundation, share first-hand how to enjoy edible wild mushrooms. First, a slide show will cover the basics of mushroom science and safety and the amazingly diverse fungi of the region (focusing on fall mushrooms considered safe for beginners). Next, after a snack break, the group will head to the woods and fields for a guided mushroom hunting adventure, returning for a cooking demonstration that will include several remarkable fall species. Items you may want to bring include a notebook and pen, camera, and water bottle. Please dress for walking in the woods.
