Farmers and Friends Family Picnic
Nothing says summer like a family picnic with delicious food, sunshine, and games! Join us at Stepping Stones Museum for Children for our Farmers and Friends Family Picnic which will feature healthy and delicious food options for adults and children, games, local food vendors, tours of the Museum’s Edible Garden, and much more! Participants are also invited to explore the museum for a whole day of summer fun.
The Celebration Courtyard will host it’s own Farmer’s Market offering samples of healthy food from local restaurants and stores. Families will learn how easy (and delicious) it can be to make healthier choices in their communities.
The Cause
Proceeds from “Farmers and Friends Family Picnic” will support the Norwalk Foodshed Initiative at Stepping Stones Museum for Children. The Foodshed Initiative is part of the museum’s expansion of its long-standing Healthy Children, Healthy Communities® Initiative and is a strategic focus of the museum leading up to it’s 20th anniversary in 2020. Stepping Stones has gathered a group of local stakeholders to develop a plan to support equal access to fresh and healthy foods; education about nutrition and general wellness; and a long term sustanibility plan to support area residents, businesses, and other key players.
